My friend thinks the child deliberately wanted the toy to make sound to essentially die by suicide

Aleena Thammasorn 22/11/2022 - 04:55

I'm sorry but i hate kids, specially in movies 😂 great analysis btw

D. Michael Martindale 22/11/2022 - 04:55

This opening scene also contains the hugest logical faux pas in the the whole movie, which I as a parent saw immediately.

There is no way in hell in such a world would I let my wife and myself march on ahead while the kids straggled behind us. One of us would lead, and the other would pick up the rear, and the kids would be in between the both of us.

Would you let your youngest kid straggle way behind in a world full of monsters without keeping a sharp eye on all of them?

This constitutes a contrived plot device to bring about the tragedy and rings totally false.

I loved the movie, but the only problem I had was the aliens had to feel around blindly because they couldn’t see, but they could rush through the woods without crashing into a tree.

B lorac 22/11/2022 - 04:55

That nail killed me! TYVM!

My favorite film of all time. You are fabulous. Thank you for this insightful and fascinating analysis. I agree with the other folks who requested more video analyses of “A Quiet Place.” Would love you see and hear your take on the grieving scene from 31:35 to 41:35!

Don't know why this came up in my recommended today, but your channel needs for recognition from the youtube algorithm

Adina McCray 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Honestly if A Quiet Place was just that first scene I would have been satisfied.

Samuel Faict 22/11/2022 - 04:55

I can not root for a dumb child who doesn't gets its lesson. I was hoping that child would die at that point in the movie when they are on the bridge. Nature has no room for the weak.

BullPin 22/11/2022 - 04:55

don't act like that script was a master peace. the details are nice but the kid putting the batters back in is realy dumb the dad not taking the battery is dump. the intro tells me that this movie is going to movie in the end and it did.aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh after a hand converation conversation with one of them being attacked ,you got to be kidding me. this movie is middle of the road at best and shouldn't get videos like this.

coyote094 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Loved your video. You should check out "Born a crime" by Trevor Noah, best audiobook out there right now.

Tony Quigley 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Am i the only person who thought this film was absolutely TERRIBLE?? I'm a HUGE Horror fan ( i know it's not horror) so i love Films where you antagonist is missing for a long time. But you see the thing grab the kid, and as soon as i saw it, it was movie over for me… the least scary looking thing I've seen in a movie basically. I couldn't take it seriously after that.

boi 22/11/2022 - 04:55

such a good video wowwoowwowow

pete49327 22/11/2022 - 04:55

The whole premise of the movie is so preposterous that I have no desire to watch it. I'm speaking of the extreme silence of the family when nature itself makes much more noise nonstop….the rustling of the leaves, wind, paper blowing around, and when it rains, etc. These natural sounds would more than mask any minor sounds the family would make. Seriously, they know these monsters are in the woods, yet they're inside a building and afraid to open and eat a bag of chips, while at same time outside leaves are blowing around, birds are chirping!? And walking around barefoot when they could be wearing soft athletic shoes. The father carries no fire arm to protect family while on their regular scheduled walk into town for supplies…did the monsters confiscate all fire arms?

Herr Schmidt 22/11/2022 - 04:55

It is interesting to learn that the scene was added later. When looking at the sequence afterwards (evening time, making dinner and ending with the raccoon getting caught) it still has a lot of exposition, but the whole movie would have felt a lot more hermetic without establishing that "outside" first. The change of scenery also makes it look a lot less low budget.

8:53 and then it happens… your fear of the unknown is long gone

Also I disagree on there being hope. If there was just the tiniest bit then yeah it was for the father, hoping that he could outrun the alien. The thing is they're explicitly showing things happen to the viewers, there's no subtlety . Showing the kid take the batteries, showing the monster in its entirety. The filmmakers were like here, THIS is what ur supposed to be afraid of. Like we're dumb or something? If they wanted to invoke hope, then.. since they showed the father place the batteries on the table, they could've shown the table being empty in one of the following shots. In that case then we could've been hopeful, maybe the kid just placed it somewhere else? Or completely cynical, oh he definitely took those batteries with him . At least there's room for actual hope? Not delusions… oh he took the batteries, maybe he's just gon juggle them? I don't think so

This is GREAT. Thank you!!!

dogbonest 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Such an intelligent and incredibly detailed analysis!
You add so much depth with each video, it makes my appreciation of the material so much richer!
Thank you!

Rohith Kumar 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Also the sand they have laid out through out the town to walk silently.

Marco Aurélio Nascimento 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Excellent breakdown, such an awesome movie!

Nincadalop 22/11/2022 - 04:55

My main dislike of the movie is that it didn't let me eat my popcorn!

Danny A 22/11/2022 - 04:55

this video is fantastic

bigcabba 22/11/2022 - 04:55

This is great. You have a methodical, pacing-sensitive way of breaking scenes down that is digestible, nutritional, and flavorful – to follow the food metaphor.

Siah Humphrey 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Fantastic analysis bro, keep it up! I really enjoy these kinds of videos!

Hamlet Fisherman 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Oh I wouldn't make a sound opening those sacks of chips if I needed too, trust me. Just go real slow

Hamlet Fisherman 22/11/2022 - 04:55

The more you think about that movie, the less it makes sense. I just noticed the missing person notes now. Why would people be missing? Wouldn't the creatures just rampage through every sound making thing in the city, nobody would be wondering where all the people went.

I did like the opening scene though. Seeing the monster at full speed looked cool, cutting to the title screen.

Max O'Byrne 22/11/2022 - 04:55

No one can make 800 pages of badminton interesting like David Foster Wallace.

Ana Luiza Cavalcanti 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Love watching your scenes review, they always make me want watch the movie again. I didn't watch Baby Driver before you made that scene review video, but I knew the movie was good just because you bothered to make a video of it. And the movie was better then I expected. I watched A Quiet Place at the theaters and I thought of it as one of the best movies of this year. I'm curious as to why do you say in your very first sentence that the movie isn't perfect? Will there be another video about this movie?

Dr. Derek Robinson 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Fantastic breakdown. I learn so much with every video you post. Thank you for taking the time to make these, I love them.

Fernando Pastorino 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Great job, loved that movie and loved that particular scene

Ofkf Djdjfk 22/11/2022 - 04:55

Such a fantastic sequence….then it's ruined with the jumpscare. Just like every other tense moment in this dissapointing movie
